Yao Ming (Chinese: 姚明; Pinyin: Yáo Míng) (born September 12, 1980, in Shanghai, China) is a Chinese professional basketball player and is considered one of the best centers in the National Basketball Association (NBA) today. He is also among the tallest of players in the NBA standing at a height of 7'6". He is the only son of his father Yao Zhiyuan and Fang Fengdi. He played for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) for five years, and now plays center for the Houston Rockets in the NBA. He was selected by Houston as the 1st overall pick of the 2002 NBA Draft and signed with them on October 21, 2002.

《contracostatimes》专栏作家马库斯此后与勇士队方面进行积极接洽，求证这一传言。

　　据马库斯透露，当他把关于外传勇士曾经积极争取易建联加盟的消息告诉勇士队前线办公室时，勇士队的内部人员笑成一片，均称不知这一传言从何而起。勇士队前线办公室人员透露说，他们并非不喜欢易建联这种风格的球员，而是他们从来就没有在选秀日那天推演过通过交易得到易建联的运作模式。

　　勇士队方面的人士告诉马库斯说，在去年的选秀日时，他们通过交易将贾森-理查德森送走之后就没有想过争取得到易建联一事。现在勇士队方面也并没有想要去运作，用布兰登-赖特作为交易筹码引进易建联。甚至勇士队方面都没有想过要把布兰登-赖特作为交易筹码送出去。

　　不过，据马库斯分析，从他多年与勇士队方面打交道的经验来看，勇士队一向是一支口风很严的球队，如果勇士队方面真的很有意向追求易建联，他们对外界的说法绝对是他们并没有设法通过交易得到易建联。所以说，事实的真相到底如何，那还得问克里斯-穆林，而在事情没有办成之前，穆林肯定是不会露一丝口风的
